Footer columns
Citera’s footer is a set of columns you fill with menus, text, images, or social buttons. Typical layout: 3–4 columns on desktop, stacked on mobile.
Add a column
Open the theme editor
Scroll the left panel to the bottom
The Footer section lives at the very bottom of every page.
Click Footer → Add block
Choose a block type
- Menu — a list of links (best for “Shop”, “Support”, “Company” style columns)
- Text — heading + paragraph (for a short brand story or contact info)
- Image — a small logo, badge, or icon strip
- Newsletter — email signup form (see Newsletter)
- Social — social media icon row
Configure the block
Each block has its own settings — pick a Shopify menu for Menu blocks, type your paragraph for Text, etc.
Save and reorder
Drag blocks in the left panel to reorder columns.
Recommended layout
A typical high-converting footer:
| Column 1 | Column 2 | Column 3 | Column 4 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brand story (Text) | Shop menu (Menu) | Support menu (Menu) | Newsletter |
- Brand story — 1–2 sentences on what your store is about
- Shop menu — Shop all, Collections, Best sellers, New arrivals
- Support menu — Contact, Shipping, Returns, FAQ, Terms, Privacy
- Newsletter — email signup + short incentive (“Get 10% off”)
Footer background
The footer inherits from a color scheme, just like sections:
Click Footer
Find Color scheme
Common choices:
- Inverse — dark footer, feels premium (works well with a bright site)
- Background 2 — subtle contrast with the page above
- Background 1 — flat, no contrast (feels light and airy)

Payment icons and copyright. These live below the columns and are configured in the Footer section’s own settings (not per-column). See Payment icons.
Mobile order
On phones, columns stack top-to-bottom in the order they appear in your left panel. Put the most important column first — usually your newsletter or main menu, not the brand text.
