Newsletter signup
The signup box collects email addresses into your Shopify Customers list (marked as “accepted marketing”). From there, connect Klaviyo, Shopify Email, or any other tool.
Add to the footer
Open the theme editor
Click Footer
Add block → Newsletter
Fill in the fields
- Heading — “Join our newsletter” or something more specific like “Get 10% off”
- Text — a short line under the heading. E.g. “New arrivals, sales, and no spam.”
- Placeholder — the placeholder inside the input, e.g. “you@example.com”
- Button label — “Subscribe”, “Sign up”, “Get discount”

Add as a full-width section (homepage)
If you want the newsletter as a big band on the homepage instead of (or in addition to) the footer:
On the homepage, scroll to Add section
Pick Newsletter
Configure
Same fields as above, plus:
- Background image — optional, feels more premium
- Color scheme — pick a scheme that stands out
- Section padding — big padding (100px+) makes it a hero-style capture

Where signups go
Every signup goes into Shopify → Customers, marked as accepted marketing. From there:
- Klaviyo — Klaviyo’s Shopify sync picks them up in minutes. Trigger a welcome flow.
- Shopify Email — go to Marketing → Email in your Shopify admin, create a segment, and start sending.
- Mailchimp — install the Shopify Mailchimp integration.
Double opt-in. Whether shoppers get a confirmation email before being subscribed is set in your Shopify admin → Settings → Notifications → Customer notifications. Best practice is to enable it — reduces spam complaints.
GDPR compliance
For EU shoppers, add a checkbox next to the newsletter:
Click the Newsletter block
Find Consent checkbox
Toggle it on. This adds a “I agree to receive marketing emails” checkbox above the button. Shoppers must tick it to submit.
Consent text
Edit the checkbox label — link to your privacy policy from the text.
