Add a video section
Add section → Video
Choose source
Options:
- Shopify-hosted MP4 — upload directly via Shopify Files (recommended)
- YouTube URL — paste a YouTube link
- Vimeo URL — paste a Vimeo link
Upload / paste
For Shopify-hosted, click Video → Select and upload your MP4. For external, paste the video URL.
Add a cover image
The still shown before playback starts. Best practice: upload a compressed JPEG of the video’s first frame or a well-shot still.
Autoplay setting
Toggle Autoplay on if the video should play muted when the section enters view (silent looping video). Keep off for hero videos where you want the shopper to press play deliberately.
Save
Autoplay requires muted. Browsers only allow autoplay for muted videos. If you turn autoplay on, the video plays silently until the shopper unmutes.
Full-width vs contained
- Full width — video fills the browser edge-to-edge, cinema feel
- Contained — video respects the theme’s max content width, feels documentary/blog-embedded
