Featured collection
A grid of product cards drawn from one Shopify collection. The most common way to surface products on your homepage.
Add a featured collection
Add section → Featured collection
Pick the collection
Click Collection → Select and choose which collection to show. Common choices:
- Best sellers
- New arrivals
- Seasonal / holiday collection
- Featured / staff picks
Set how many products to show
Common values: 4, 6, 8, or 12. Products beyond this count don’t show — no pagination in the section (that’s what the collection page is for).
Choose the grid layout
Columns on desktop: 2, 3, 4, or 5. Mobile always shows 1 or 2 columns.

Product card blocks
Each card can show:
- Product image (main + hover image if you have two)
- Title
- Price
- Vendor (optional)
- Color swatches (below the image, click to switch card image)
- Quick add button (adds to cart without leaving the homepage)
Toggle these under the Featured collection section’s Card content settings.
Heading and subheading
Every featured collection section has:
- Heading — “Best sellers”, “New arrivals”, “Our picks”
- Subheading — one line under the heading
- View all link — usually links to the collection page
Together these frame the section. You can turn off any of them individually if you want a bare grid.
Sorting
The order products appear in the grid follows the collection’s default sort in Shopify admin. To change it:
Go to Shopify admin → Products → Collections
Open the collection
Find Sort at the bottom
Options:
- Manually — you set the exact order via drag
- Best selling — Shopify’s data-driven order
- Product title (A–Z or Z–A)
- Date created
- Price low → high or high → low
Save
The featured collection section on your homepage picks up whatever sort you set here.
Include a promo card
For a “shop this collection” or featured lifestyle image between products:
Click Featured collection → Add block → Promo image
Set position
Choose where the promo card sits (1st, 3rd, 5th, etc. position in the grid).
Upload image + heading + link
The promo card replaces one product slot with a custom image and CTA.
No products? Show a placeholder. If the collection is empty (or the page is being previewed), Citera shows placeholder product cards so you can still design the section.
