Customer accounts

Citera supports both of Shopify’s customer account systems:

  • Classic accounts — the traditional login/register pages with account overview, orders, and addresses (customizable via theme templates)
  • New customer accounts — Shopify’s hosted flow with email OTP login, wishlist, and order tracking (styled by Shopify, minimal theme control)

Which one are you on?

Shopify admin → Settings → Customer accounts

Options:

  • Classic customer accounts — theme-controlled login/register pages
  • New customer accounts — Shopify-hosted flow

Classic customer accounts (Citera-controlled)

If you’re on classic, Citera includes the full set of templates:

  • Login (/account/login)
  • Register (/account/register)
  • Password reset (/account/reset)
  • Password activation (/account/activate)
  • Account overview (/account)
  • Order detail (/account/orders/[id])
  • Addresses (/account/addresses)

All are pre-styled with your theme’s colors and typography. Nothing to configure.

New customer accounts (Shopify-hosted)

If you’re on the new system, most of the customer experience happens on Shopify’s hosted pages (which you can lightly brand via Settings → Checkout & customer accounts → Branding).

The theme’s login button in the header just redirects to Shopify’s hosted login flow.

Which should you use? New customer accounts are recommended for most stores — they’re mobile-optimized, support wishlist, and don’t require shoppers to remember a password (they log in via email OTP). Classic accounts are still appropriate if you have advanced customer needs (custom account fields, loyalty UI in the account area).

Header login button

Whichever account system you’re on, the header shows a person icon that opens the login flow.
