Below the main product info, show a grid of related or complementary products. Great for:

  • Cross-sells (“Customers also bought”)
  • Category upsells (“More from this collection”)
  • Complementary items (“Complete the routine”)

You pick specific related products per product via a Shopify app or metafield.

Install a complementary products app

Shopify’s own free “Search & Discovery” app supports this natively.

For each product, pick complementary items

The app UI lets you pick 3–8 specific products to recommend.

Add the Complementary products section

In the product template, Add section → Complementary products. Shopify’s app block renders the picks you made.

Slower to set up, but the recommendations are curated and highly relevant.

Which to use?

  • Small catalog (under 30 products): Complementary — you have time to curate.
  • Large catalog (100+ products): Related — auto-picks are fine.
  • High-consideration products (skincare routines, tech kits): Complementary — the “complete the set” story converts better.
