Gift cards

Citera includes a dedicated gift card page with:

  • Balance display
  • Scannable QR code (recipient scans at checkout on a physical location, or copies the code online)
  • Copy-code button
  • Print-friendly layout

Sell gift cards

Shopify admin → Products → Add product

Or edit an existing product.

Set product type to Gift card

Under Product type, select Gift card. Shopify handles this as a special product.

Set denominations

Add variants for each dollar amount: $25, $50, $100, etc.

Optionally add customization

Shopify supports adding a personal message field so the giver can include a note.

Save and publish

The gift card product now appears in your store like any other product. Shoppers buy it, get a delivery email with the code, and can either use it themselves or forward it as a gift.

The gift card page

When a shopper receives a gift card email, the code links to /pages/gift-card. Citera renders:

  • Big balance display (“$50.00”)
  • QR code for easy scanning
  • Code text with copy button
  • Instructions for use
  • Print button

Nothing to configure — the page is auto-generated by Shopify + styled by Citera.

Recipient email

The email shoppers receive with the gift card is set in Shopify admin → Settings → Notifications → Gift card. Edit the template there — the theme doesn’t control it.

Redemption at checkout

At checkout, shoppers enter their gift card code in the “Gift card or discount code” field. The balance auto-applies.
